2. What is the anointing?
• Anoint
– To smear, rub or cover with oil
– To apply oil, ointment or a similar substance to
– To authorize, or set apart, a person for a particular
work or service (Isaiah 61:1)
• Anointing
– Supernatural enablement, grace, manifested presence
of the Holy Spirit operating upon or through an
individual or corporate group to produce the works of
Jesus; God’s blessing
– The spiritual smearing or covering of Jesus Christ,
provided by and manifested through the Holy Ghost
3. What is impartation?
• Impart
– To communicate (message) or bestow upon (quality)
– To grant a share or portion of (Romans 1:11)
– To make known or disclose
• Impartation
– A share, portion or revelation of something by means
of another person or resource (as opposed to a
revelation, which is an “internal” revealing)
– A spiritual transfer (Leviticus 16:21)
5. Results of the Anointing
• Sanctification
– The anointing always “sets apart” (2 Corinthians 1:212)
• Change
– The anointing requires an evident and distinctive
change
• First Examples found in Old Testament
– Anointing of priests, kings and prophets
• Anointed with oil
• Required to live isolated, reverenced lifestyles
• Required to wear distinguishing attire
• Specially assigned to tasks that others could not perform
