QUESTION
   Explain how does Marina Bay serve as a model to
    the Principles of Governance deployed to help
    Singapore sustain its growth in the 21st Century?
GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNANCE
   ‘Leadership is Key’
    - Singapore need honest and capable leaders to maintain
    stability and make right decisions.
   ‘Anticipate Change and Stay Relevant’
     - Decisions made in the government have to be forward
    looking
   ‘Reward for Work and Work For Reward’
    - Singapore rewards people for their hard work and talent
   ‘A Stake for Everyone, Opportunities for all’
    - Allows people to have a say in decision making
A ‘GREEN’ SINGAPORE
 Due to the limited resources that Singapore has,
  Singapore makes use of other kinds of energy
  sources, mainly renewable energy.
 Marina Bay makes use of solar energy and sensors
  to operate eco-friendly structures
 Underground shopping centers were built so that
  land can be conserved and used for other purposes
  as Singapore has limited land.
MARINA BAY SANDS
 It attracts tourists to come and visit Singapore,
  hence, leading to the improvement of economical
  prosperity in Singapore.
 It promotes more foreign investments in Singapore.
  This made Singapore more well-known globally.
PLANNING OF MARINA CITY
 The Urban Redevelopment Agency was brought in
  to help plan Marina Bay.
 The Marina Bay was developed using a grid road
  network and an extensive pedestrian network to
  ensure good connection between the different
  buildings.
 The Marina Bay was develop in a way that helped
  improve the quality of life in Singapore, with enough
  space for recreational activities.
HOW DOES THE MARINA BAY LINK TO THE
PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNANCE?
  Leadership Is Key:
 - Although many people were against the idea of
   opening the Integrated Resorts in Singapore, the
   government still went ahead with their plans and
   built the Integrated Resorts.
- The government had great foresight and knew that
   the building of the Marina Bay Sands will help
   improve the economy.
HOW DOES THE MARINA BAY LINK TO THE
PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNANCE?
 Anticipate Change and Stay Relevant:
- The government made use of ideas to help
  conserve energy in Singapore as well as attract
  foreign investors to invest in their ideas.
- The reclaimed land that the Marina City was made
  to full use by building underground shopping
  centers.
 A stake for Everyone, Opportunities for all:

- The aim for the Marina Bay Sands was partly to
  create more jobs for the people
