2 Use Visual Content
Within the realm of visual content, there are a ton of different forms
you can use. With videos you can create explainer videos, interviews,
product demos, behind the scenes tours and how-to's. With images
you can create infographics, memes, SlideShare presentations, comics,
animated GIFs and more! We love visual content because it is fun to
create and people love to share it for us.
3 Use Less Words
Your website and emails should not look like textbooks when opened.
Be sure to focus on "scanability" and how it looks on mobile devices
because many times they will only briefly scan through your website,
email or social network. Only include crucial info and avoid loosing
their interest by using too many words. Did you even read this whole
description? Probably not…
4 Use Actions Words
When "creating" (not writing) words online, be sure to always ask
your self, "what action do I want them to take?" Using phrases
similar to "Like this if..." "Tell us what..." "Tap this to receive..." is
simple phycology and by simply asking or telling them to do
something, you can get customers to take the next step.
Use Mobile Social Networks5
Social networks like Instagram and Vine are built specifically for an used
on mobile devices. They are wildly popular and users will come back
many times in one day. The great part about these social networks is
you can use them to build a mobile audience and at the same time
share the engaging content you created, to your other social networks
like Twitter and Facebook.

If you are sending your customers out of a social network or
email to your website, a landing page, third-party app, etc.
be sure these are mobile-friendly. 61% of customers who
visit a mobile unfriendly site are likely to go to a
competitor’s site.
Use Push Notifications7
Your mobile customers are always connected and that means you should
be as well. You can pick and choose when to receive notifications on your
smartphone or tablet so you can hop into a conversation on your social
networks anywhere, anytime. Being able to quickly respond and engage
customers in real time and knowing that they will receive your feedback
instantly is a powerful tool for businesses.
8 Encourage “Check-Ins”
If you have a business where customers come and stay to shop, eat or
visit you need to encourage those people to "check-in." It will help
build brand awareness and help new customers discover you. Some
businesses offer incentives for people to check in, but at the very least
you should use some sort of paper poster or flyer to let them know
they can "check-in" to your business.

stores, you need to ensure that your customers are aware you have a

It is crucial that you are measuring your marketing efforts so that you
understand what is working and what is not. Using powerful, free tools like
Google Analytics and Simply Measured you can see which social networks
are sending users to your site, which pages they landed on, what kind of
device they are using and much more! This is a crucial step in setting and
reaching your mobile marketing goals.
