Currently Kappa Sigma has a Facebook
Page and a Website. There is also a
national Facebook Page and Website. Only
the National website links to the Beta
Omicron Chapter website. Nationals
monitors all social media outlets from the
entire chapter as well as each member. The
Beta Omicron chapter was placed on
probation because of a Tweet claiming
hazing.
Keeps the campus informed
Draws interest for future/interest members
Promotes the good things the Fraternity
does
Promotes to the public events, fund
raisers, and volunteer opportunities
My strategy includes Twitter, Facebook and
Foursquare. The use of Twitter and Facebook
will promote and inform students and the local
community of the good events and actions the
Fraternity is doing. This brings pride to the
University and Kappa Sigma. A Foursquare
account can be used to inform parents and
members where the Fraternity is. For example,
if the members of the Frat are volunteering at a
homeless shelter, checking in lets others know
that the brothers of Kappa Sigma are up to
good deeds.
 Summer 2013 – Create the Twitter account,
update the Facebook page, create the
Foursquare account.
 Fall 2013 – Give each member access,
explain the purpose and promote using them
for good things and avoiding the promotion of
drinking through the social media channels
 Winter 2014 – Review
 Spring 2015 – Elect a Social Media Chair to
review the channels and maintain the,m
The most unique part of the plan is the
reviewing process and the use of
Foursquare. I’m hoping that people who
follow the Foursquare will like to see that
members of the Fraternity are involved in
the community.
