1. There's an element of risk involved any time you ship an item. No
matter what service you're using, once you hand over your
package it's completely out of your control. While it should be
assumed that all of the major shipping companies want to handle
your package well in order to maintain a good reputation and stay
in business, there are an awful lot of reported incidents where
that didn't exactly work out. With the advent of security video
and easy mobile camera recording, we have plenty of modern
examples of package couriers mishandling deliveries.

2. Packing Material
From throwing packages containing delicate items over fences to
loading up delivery trucks by literally throwing everything in and
letting it fall wherever it may, many of the big names in shipping
and postal services have attracted a lot of criticism over how they
handle packages. Of course, none of these companies actually
condone such treatment of packages, but it's difficult to manage
every single employee. Given the volume of parcels they have to
handle, there's always a rush to keep up, and it never ends.
3. Since there's no way to control whether your package will be
properly loaded onto a truck, set onto the loading bay properly, or
handled in the right way when it arrives at its final destination, it is
of the utmost importance to use heavy-duty packing materials
when transporting your goods.
Even a well loaded truck might have its packages jostled around
by the likes of potholes and speed bumps. Heavier packages could
fall onto smaller ones. All sorts of variables are at play. Without a
strong box and plenty of packing material to protect the item
inside, it might be damaged once it finally arrives.
Shipping packages is already pretty expensive, especially if the
item is heavy or irregularly shaped and in need of a large box.
However, that extra layer of personal insurance and precaution is
absolutely worth taking to make sure that nothing happens to the
item along the way. Everyone knows about bubble wrap, but
there's an unsung hero in the shipping world: corrugated
cardboard wrap.
Corrugated cardboard wrap can fit well around any item and hold
it firmly in place inside of the box. It's made of thick, sturdy
material that can help protect it should any of the sides be dented
while the box is on its journey. You can then line the box with
plenty of bubble wrap - at least two or three layers if you can - to
give it the maximum degree of protection. Wrapping the item up
in bubble wrap or newspaper before placing it inside the
corrugated wrap is also ideal.
4. Good Track Record
It's a waste of money if your item arrives damaged, and getting
packages properly insured can incur even more fees on your part.
It can also be difficult for the shipping service to accept
responsibility a lot of the time. If you're shipping as part of a
home business then you're also facing the likelihood of a bad
review that hurts your business moving forward. Using materials
like corrugated cardboard wrap to protect your item will improve
the likelihood of it arriving as expected tenfold. Otherwise, you're
taking quite a big risk.
