Peter Heinzelmann joined Pöyry in 1997 and has over 30 years’ experience in the energy and
cement industry.
His main areas of expertise are in project management of complex, large projects on an EPC
basis, marketing and company management.
Previous tasks include overall project management of a 125,000 l/d Ethanol Plant, for a 110 MW
CCPP and for a 20 MW rice husk fired power plant, all built by Pöyry on an EPC basis. His expertise
in the energy sector includes the entire life cycle of energy projects, from feasibility studies, project
development activities to construction and commissioning and operation and maintenance. He is
also acting as a contracts expert for EPC, EPC Open Book and EPCM related works. He is very
familiar with the Asian market, having worked for 14 years in Thailand and the Philippines.

Project located in the Rayong Province, Thailand. The plant consists of
two frame 6 gas turbines, steam turbine, two waste heat recovery boilers,

plant facilities. The plant delivers power to EGAT and industrial users as
well as steam to private industrial consumers. The TNP project was up to
date the biggest EPC contract acquired by the Pöyry Group and involved
relatively high risks in terms of performance guarantees, schedule and
associated Liquidated Damages. The EPC project was executed by a
consortium Pöyry Energy/ Sumitomo Corporation. Pöyry Energy was
responsible for overall project management, engineering, procurement
and construction of the balance of plant, erection, commissioning, testing
of all the equipment including Power Island. Sumitomo Corporation (SC)
was responsible for engineering and procurement of the power Island,
with appointed main subcontractors Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Steam
Turbines, Heat Recovery System, Data Control System) and General
Electric (Gas Turbines). The project was completed ahead of schedule,
within budget and is operating the first 17 months with an availability of
more than 99%. Beside the project management task Peter Heinzelmann
was responsible to establish new EPC execution procedures and
manuals including Mobilization and Project Execution Manuals, Health
and Safety Manuals, Procurement and Project Quality Assurance
Manuals, Warranty Manu-als. These procedures and manuals are now
used on a group wide level for the execution of EPC projects.

After an underground parking collapsed the company was assigned to determine the reasons for
the collapse. For this purpose the entire structure was recalculated, the original design reviewed
and from there the exact reason for the collapse determined. The findings were reported to the
client.
