Economy Key This key is used to switch
between Economy and Normal
modes.
The Economy Mode will maintain
the water temperature at a point
20°F below the set temperature.
This mode is recommended for
occasional use when a minimal
heating time is required.
The Normal Mode will
automatically maintain the water
temperature at the desired set
point.
This mode is recommended for
users that desire the spa to be
available 24 hours a day.
Up & Down Arrow The Up & Down Arrow Keys are
Keys used to set the spa water
temperature, which can be
adjusted from 59°F to 104°F in
1°F increments.
Keeping pressure on the key will
increase (or decrease) the
current temperature setting.
The Set Point Icon will appear
telling the user that the
temperature displayed is the
desired and not the actual
temperature.
If when the temperature is set to 104°F
the user keeps the Up Arrow Key
depressed for 5 seconds, the unit will
go into “over temperature” mode. This
allows the Set Point to be raised up to
107°F.

Heater Auto Start When the water temperature is
1°F lower than the Set Point, the
heater and pump will be turned
on until the water temperature
reaches the Set Point plus 1°F.
The Heater Icon will appear while
the heater is on.
Temperature The 3-digit LCD display shows
Display the water temperature reading.
The reading will be refreshed
every second.

11. HT-2 / 9600 Series Instructions Spaside Control (Alarms)
Freeze Protection If the spa water temperature falls to 38°F at the high limit sensor, the
system will activate the pump (low speed for dual speed pump) and
heater for 2 minutes.
High Temperature If the water temperature exceeds
112°F at the Temperature
sensor, the heater and all
functions will be deactivated and
“3- flashing dots” will appear
below the temperature display
and an error LED will illuminate
on the systems printed circuit
board. If the water temperature
exceeds 119°F at the Hi-Limit
sensor the heater will be turned
off until the water has cooled to
110°F. “3-flashing dots” will
appear below the temperature
display and an error LED will
illuminate on the systems printed
circuit board.
Pressure Switch To prevent damage to your
heater due to “dry fire”, there is a
flow or pressure switch mounted
to the heater. The system
constantly checks the switch. If
the pump used to circulate the
water through the heater is not
operating and the pressure
switch is closed, “3-flashing
dots” will appear below the
temperature display.

12. HT-2 / 9600 Series Instructions Spaside Control (Alarms)
Pressure Switch If the pump is operating and the
flow or pressure switch is open,
“3-flashing dots” will appear
below the temperature display
and the heater will not engage.
Note: A dirty filter limiting the
water flow or low spa water level
can cause this message to
appear.
When the pump is turned on,
there is a 7-second delay before
the heater system will start to
auto check the pressure switch.
Temperature If the system detects a problem
Sensor with the water temperature
sensor, 32°F will appear and
remain on the Spaside display.
The system will engage the
heater as a form of freeze
protection. If, in 1-hour, the
system has not sensed a rise in
the temperature, “3-flashing
dots” will also appear below the
temperature display.
Freeze Protection If the spa water temperature
drops below 49°F, the pump and
heater will be turned for a period
of 2 minutes or until the spa
water reaches 50°F. The Filter
Icon will appear during this
mode.

Smart Winter Hydro-Quip solid-state systems are equipped with a sensor that
Mode measures the temperature in the plumbing of the spa. If the system
detects conditions below 59°F, the system will automatically activate
the Smart Winter Mode for a period of 24 hours. In this mode, if a
pump has not been powered in the last 2 hours, the system will turn it
on for one minute to prevent freezing. The Filter Mode light Icon will
flash while the pump is running in this mode.
Power Failure Upon first powering the system or if a power outage occurs, the
display will flash until a key is pressed. This feature also lets the user
know there has been a power failure. The onboard clock may need to
be reprogrammed. Normally the onboard clock will keep the correct
time for at least 48 hours after a power outage. A power outage will
not affect the programming.
