QUEEN VICTORIA
Hello we are Silvia, Brian, Gerard and I, Patricia and talk about our work of
Queen Victoria. First Brian explain the birth and family, then Silvia will explain
the coronation and the Victorian era. Then I'll tell you about the wedding and
hemophilia. And finally Gerard will talk about the death and the succession of
the queen.
 BIRTH AND FAMILY

She was named Alexandrina Victoria was born on 24 May 1819 and died 24
May 1819 (at 82 years).
His mother had been previously married to Prince Charles of Leiningen and
Emili this marriage were born two children, Prince Charles Frederick of
Leiningen and Princess Feodora of Leiningen. His father Prince Edward, Duke
of Kent and Streathem who died at 8 months of her birth because of pneumonia
and died two weeks after his grandfather, king George III of the United
Kingdom, which turned the young princess in second on the list of succession to
the Crown and heiress presumptive of the Prince of Wales and future King
William IV of the United Kingdom had no children
 CORONATION OF QUEEN VICTORIA

The Queen Victoria ascended the throne at 18 years on June 28, 1837 and
remained in it longer than any other king in Europe. His reign of 64 years was
the longest in British history and is known as the Victorian era.
It was a period of industrial, cultural, political, scientific, and military change in
the UK and was marked by the expansion of the British Empire.

 FEATURES OF THE VICTORIAN ERA

1
The Victorian era began in 1837 and finishes in 1901. Britain became a the first
world power for the welfare of their economy and the extent and importance of
his conquests.
This period England suffered great changes that helped the industrialization of
the country. As a result of industrialization improved the living conditions of the
working class.

 CARACTERÍSTICAS DE LA ÉPOCA VICTORIANA

One of the most important kingdoms about the expansion and marked social,
economic and technological changes
that occurred at this time.
His period of reign that consisted of 64
years was the longest in the history of
the British crown, recently passed by
Queen Elizabeth II.



Marriage

Though queen, as an unmarried young woman Victoria was required by social
convention to live with her mother, despite their differences over the Kensington
System and her mother's continued reliance on Conroy. When Victoria
complained to Melbourne that her mother's close proximity promised "torment
for many years", Melbourne sympathized but said it could be avoided by
marriage. She showed interest in Alberto's
education for the future role he would have to play
as her husband, but she resisted attempts to rush
her into wedlock.
Victoria continued to praise Alberto. Alberto and
Victoria felt mutual affection and the Queen
proposed to him on 15 October 1839, just five
days after he had arrived at Windsor. They were
married on 10 February 1840, in the Chapel Royal
of St. James's Palace, London. Victoria was
besotted.
Alberto became an important political adviser as
well as the Queen's companion, replacing Lord
Melbourne as the dominant, influential figure in the first half of her life. Victoria's
mother was evicted from the palace, to Ingested House in Belgrave Square.
Through Alberto's mediation, relations between mother and daughter slowly
improved.
2
During Victoria's first pregnancy in 1840, in the first
few months of the marriage, 18-year-old Edward
Oxford attempted to assassinate her while she
was riding in a carriage with Prince Alberto on her
way to visit her mother.
In the immediate aftermath of the attack, Victoria's
popularity soared
The Queen hated being pregnant, nevertheless,
over the following seventeen years, she and Albert
had a further eight children.



Hemophilia

One of Victoria's children, the second child, Leopold, was the first descendant of
Victoria who suffered hemophilia B and two of her five daughters, Alice and
Beatrice, they discovered, after having children, who were carriers of the
defective gene. Among the royal descendants who suffered this disease are her
grandchildren. The presence of this disease in the offspring of the queen, but
not in her ancestors, led to speculations that claim that Victoria's real father was
not the Duke of Kent but a hemophiliac.
It is more likely to have been a spontaneous mutation, and Victoria's father was
old enough when conceived and hemophilia occurs most often in children born
to older parents.



Death and succession

Victoria spent the Christmas of 1900 at Osborne house. She had a rheumatism
in his legs and in his eyes has a cataracts. In January, Victoria felt weak and
unwell, and she died on Tuesday 22 January of 1901, at half past sic in the
evening. When she died had 81 years old.
Her son and successor King Edward VII, and her eldest grandson emperor
Wilhelm II of Germany, were at her deathbed. Her pet was in the deathbed too.
Her funeral was held on Saturday, 2 February in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor
Castle rand after two days of lying in state she was interred beside Prince Albert
in Frogmore Mausoleum at Windsor Great Park.
In 1897 , Victoria had written the instructions for her funeral, which was to be
military. In the funeral she was dressed in a white dress and a wedding veil. In
the coffin was an array of moments commemorating her extended family,
friends and servants.

3
With a reign of 63 years, seven month and two days, Victoria is the longest
reigning British monarch and the longest reigning queen regnant in the world
history. She was the last monarch of Britain from the house of Hanover. Her son
and heir Edward VII belonged to her husband’s.

In the picture we can see a poster when queen Victoria died. The poster reports
one day of mourning in Toronto, for the end of Victoria
The mourning was in Saturday , 2nd February next.

THE END
And this is our work of Queen Victoria, thank you
listen. Anyone have any question? Thank you!
