CATEGORY MANAGEMENT
My resume often refers to category management (Cat-Man). I have over
10 years of successful and progressive category management experience.
Category management is a collaborative, business building process
between manufacturers (vendors) and retailers such as Walmart, Target,
Walgreens, and Kroger. Manufacturers use a consultative method of
advising and selling to retail customers using fact based data to support
initiatives. Successful category managers identify issues and
opportunities, develop a hypothesis, research and retrieve the appropriate
data, mine /analyze it, create presentations, and present the findings to
customers or internal stakeholders. Data is gleaned from many sources
and the analysis can be complex.
