- The following slides will provide the basic rules for the white elephant gift exchange party game combined with Spin the Bottle. Use this unique gift exchange variation to spice-up your gift giving activities.
- Just like any white elephant gift exchange, you will set up the room so that all players can see each other. The game starts with all players in their seats and the wrapped gifts in a common pile. The bottle is placed in the center of the seating area.
- The bottle is spun and lands on the first player to choose a white elephant gift. If the bottle stops spinning between two players, you will spin again until it points to one individual.
- Just like all white elephant exchange rules, the bottle has selected the first person to get a wrapped white elephant gift and open it for all players to see.
- The next gift exchange player is chosen by spinning the bottle.
- The player number 2 has the option of taking the gift from player 1 or opening a wrapped gift from the common pile. In this example the gift is stolen, leaving player 1 without a gift.
- The standard gift exchange rule applies for player 1, who must now open a wrapped gift. There are no direct steal-backs allowed in the white elephant exchange rules.
- The bottle is spun once again to choose the next player in the gift exchange.
- Player 3 has the option to steal any open gift or choose to open a new wrapped gift from the pile. If a steal is completed the person losing a gift must ether steal from another player (no direct steal-backs) or open a new wrapped gift.
- The next player is selected by a bottle spin.
- If the bottle lands on a player with an opened white elephant gift then there are two options: Either swap the open gift with any other open gift, or donate the gift to another player, and then open a wrapped gift from the pile.
- If a player donates an opened gift then they must open a new wrapped gift. If the player makes a swap for another opened gift, then the bottle is spun to determine the next player in the game.
- The bottle selection process continues for the remainder of the game with the same options for every player. Play until all the white elephant gifts are opened. You are going to love this party!
