God is the rightful King over all creation. The Bible recounts God's establishment of his kingdom throughout history, from delivering the Israelites from Egypt during the Exodus and forming them into his kingdom of priests, to raising up King David to rule over Israel according to his will. When Israel was exiled for turning away from God, the prophets foretold the coming of a Messiah who would restore God's kingdom and reign over his people with righteousness and salvation.
