3. During Trailwalker, you will walk a full 100km with a 1200m height difference within 48 hours. The temperature falls by 0.6 degrees per 100m ascent, which means a 6 degree drop at 1,200m. In addition, 1m/s wind speed adds a 1 degree drop from wind-chill. To walk in comfort, you need to prepare for this temperature difference by having the correct clothing for both the day and night. Rain is also a possibility. Be prepared with waterproof, breathable rainwear that allows to keep the rain off and stay dry on the inside as well. 4. (Daytime walking) In sunny weather, the high temperature and physical exertion will ensure you perspire a lot. Walking in sweaty clothes is unpleasant, so consider wearing sweat-absorbing and quick-drying synthetic fibers so your body stays ventilated throughout your hike. Cold, wet clothes will feel worse when the temperature drops, will add to your fatigue and make the physical challenge tougher. For more UV protection, consider products with a ‘UV function’ or dark-coloured T-shirts. Outdoor Clothing Tips ( 2 )
