Coveris PR_Investments into Halle and Warburg
1. PRESS RELEASE
COVERIS TO INVEST OVER
FOUR MILLION EUROS IN
GERMAN SITES
Coveris, 05/2015 - Coveris is investing over four million Euros in its German
sites in Warburg and Halle. The investment sum of 3.3 million Euros is used for
the installment of exhaust gas purifiers and energy recovery systems at both
sites. In addition, the Warburg site will receive new and state-of-the-art reel
slitters for one million Euros.
As part of its global growth strategy, Coveris is investing into its North Rhine-Westphalian sites in Warburg and Halle. The
company thereby addresses the increasing customer demand in flexible packaging, by means of new equipment and
technology. Simultaneously these particular investments will help Coveris to realize significant cost savings and an overall
efficiency enhancement all whilst minimizing the environmental impact of its manufacturing processes.
“At Coveris, we constantly monitor our production processes. We not only strive to deliver quality products for our clients, but
also provide a safe working environment for our employees, while at the same time taking into consideration our impact on
the environment. With the investments in Halle and Warburg, we enhance our performance as business partner, but also as
employer and sustainable business”, said Oliver Bruns, managing director Coveris Fexibles.
In Warburg, where Coveris is producing flexible films and converted products with a focus on food, new and state-of-the-art
reel slitters are put into operation. With this investment in production capacity, Coveris will continue in delivering high-quality
packaging solutions now at an even faster pace. The cutter will be integrated smoothly into the current production process
and facilitate not only accuracy and reduce error, but also enable efficient order change, thereby increasing productivity and
delivery speed. In addition, the new reel slitters contributes to employee safety as the blades are safely shielded from direct
access, while an additional light barrier shuts down the machinery immediately after an unwanted object enters.
Besides increased capacity utilization, Coveris will capitalize on eco-friendliness and energy recycling. In Warburg and Halle,
gas purifier and energy recovery systems are being installed. The gas purifiers will enable the removal of molecular
contamination and dramatically reduce Coveris’ level of CO2 emissions – and evidently also the carbon footprint of its clients.
In addition, a new energy recovery system utilizes waste heat to recirculate energy back into the system for reuse. The
combination of these measures will realize significant cost savings, whilst ensuring efficient and energy-saving production.
Already in 2013, Coveris invested a sum of 8.3 million Euros into new buildings and equipment at Warburg and Halle. The
current investment represents an important step for Coveris in expanding its business development not only in Germany, but
also on a global scale. Further investments will follow in the course of the year in the field of extrusion and printing.
