My name is Christina Gradl and I am a director of the Emergia Institute. We founded including hotel and city tour

make sure our ideas have room to spread and grow. It can be challenging to get people
out of their trade-off thinking: even those responsible for CSR or sustainability often
don’t quite believe that more profit can mean more social and environmental impact.
Good examples help – and we try to create more of them.
In 2005 and 2006, I headed the oikos chapter London. We set up a sustainability
consulting group, Sustainable Future, and developed recommendations for our university,
LSE, to become more sustainable. The best experience was when we presented our ideas
to the management board of the school – and they decided to work with us to implement
them. Based on this experience, I would say that my advice to current oikos people is: on-
changing the way your university works can make a real difference – try it! going
