2. HISTORY OF OPEN DATA IN SF
• Executive Directive 09-06 was enacted to enhance
open government, transparency, and accountability
by improving access to City data.
• To continue and expand access to City data, the
Directive became law in Ordinance 293-10.
3. BENEFITS OF OPEN DATA
Open data provides numerous benefits for both
government and the public
• Enhanced government transparency and accountability;
• Development of new analyses, applications, and civic tools;
• Increased civic engagement;
• Social and economic benefits as a result of innovative resident
interaction with government;
• Increased government efficiency and delivery of services; and
• Many other benefits!
