• Researchers may create, edit, and maintain an ORCID identifier
and record free of charge.
• Researchers may control the defined privacy settings of their own
ORCID record data.
• All data contributed to ORCID are available for free download
(subject to the researchers' own privacy settings).
• All software developed by ORCID are publicly released under an
Open Source Software license.

• ORCID is a non-profit and cannot become a
commercial enterprise
