INTRODUCTION–You’ve just been hired for a local newspaper during World War II! There is
so much going on and we need some breaking stories! There is so much going on to choose
from!
TASK–You and a team of 2 others will put together a story about one of 4 topics:
1. The Role of women in the workforce during the war
2. The Holocaust
3. The internment of Japanese-Americans
4. The Atomic bombs and their importance
There will be
3 roles:
1. The editor (oversees every aspect)
2. The writer (interprets the info into a story)
3. The gatherer (researches information)
PROCESS–First you must decide which of the topics you will choose. Each of the topics should
offer a great amount of information. Once you have determined the topic, you must assign roles
to the members of your group.
Start by researching the topic and putting together main ideas that will flow well in an
article. Make sure you pick the right information that will be interesting to your reader. Despite
having different roles, you will all need to collaborate with your writer before your final article is
submitted. Make sure that the main ideas are covered and you all feel that the reader will be
interested.
Also, do you have any pictures? You need a cover picture to gain the readers’ attention as
well as a few other photos to go with it.
EVALUATION– This is a group project so the group as a whole will receive an overall grade.
You will be graded based on 4 aspects:
1. Neatness and fluidity of article (30%)
2. Accuracy of information (30%)
