Nourish International's mission is to eradicate poverty through student engagement and community empowerment. It began in 2003 at the University of North Carolina and has since expanded to over 50 university chapters nationwide. Nourish raises money through campus ventures like hunger lunches to fund sustainable development projects abroad, where students partner with local communities over the summer to implement poverty solutions. Past projects include building an orphanage in Bolivia in 2009 and constructing a water pipeline in Peru to provide clean drinking water.

Our Mission:
Our mission is to eradicate poverty by engaging students and empowering
communities.
History:
Nourish International began in 2003 at the University of North Caroline by Sindhura Citineni. She
began by selling rice, beans and cornbread for $3 and used the profits to fund Nourish's first
project: a nutrition project in Hyderbad, India. Since then, Nourish has expanded to over 50
chapters at different universities nation wide.
Ventures:
By running ventures on campus, Nourish International raises money to conduct sustainable
development projects abroad in the summer time. Over the summer, students travel abroad to
partner with local communities in implementing solutions to poverty. Our main venture is called
a Hunger Lunch where we provide locally made food to students for donations. All donations
collected throughout the year go straight towards our summer project. We are also expanding
our ventures this year to include a Nourish Olympics event and a OSU flag football tournament.
Past Projects:
In July, 2009, six members of Nourish International traveled to Cochabamba, Bolivia to partner
with Global Gallery for their Bolivia orphanage project. The volunteers spent time there building
an orphanage and running an after school program for the children in the surrounding
community. This past summer, six students volunteered to build a water pipeline and reservoir
in Peru that will supply the community of Cerro Blanco with access to clean, safe drinking water
24 hours a day.
