Vampire Horror
• Vampire films have been around since the silent days.
• The most popular cinematic adaptation of vampire fiction
has been from Bram Stoker's Dracula.
• Other adaptations of Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu has
  also been an influence.
• Dracula had been the subject of more films than any
  other fictional character.
• The themes held common through many adaptations are,
their need to feed on blood and on their manipulative
  behaviour.
• Although vampires are generally associated with the
horror genre. There have also been comedic adaptations
  plus many others.
• The literary vampire first appeared in 18th century poetry.
• Hiatorically all vampire fiction comes under the genre of horror.

Examples of Vampire Fiction
• Polidori's The Vampyre (1819)
• Varney the Vampire (1847)
• Bram Stoker's Dracula (1897).
• In later years, vampire stories have expanded into areas of
crime, fantasy, science fiction. As well as the typical fanged
vampires, newer representations include aliens and even
plants with vampiric abilities. Others feed on energy rather
  than blood.
• Dracula is an 1897 Gothic horror novel by Irish author Bram
  Stoker.
• Famous for introducing the character of the vampire Count
  Dracula
• The novel tells the story of Dracula's attempt to relocate from
Transylvania to England, and the battle between Dracula and
a small group of men and women
• The novel touches on themes such as the role of women in
Victorian culture, sexual conventions, immigration, colonialism,
  and post-colonialism.
• Stoker did not invent the vampire, he defined its modern form.
• The novel has spawned numerous theatrical, film and
  television interpretations
• There have been so many film revivals of this classic novel
• Black and white silent film
• From the USA.
• It was the very first vampire film ever made.
• There is no other information on this movie
• Silent German Horror film
• Directed by Richard Oswald, Arthur Robison
• All information on all Vampire movies before the first
known film with the character of Count Dracula (Dracula’s
  Death)
• Hungarian horror movie, currently believed to be a lost
  film
• Was written and directed by Károly Lajthay
• The film marks the first screen appearance of the
  vampire Count Dracula
• The film doesn’t follow the narrative of Bram Stoker’s
  novel Dracula
• The film was re-released and re-edited in 1923
• A classic 1922 German unrealistic horror film
• The film, shot in 1921 and released in 1922, was an
unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula
• Names and other details changed because the studio
could not obtain the rights to the novel
• (for instance, "vampire" became "Nosferatu" and "Count
  Dracula" became "Count Orlok").
• Vampire-horror film directed by Tod Browning
• The film was produced by Universal and is based on the 1924
stage play Dracula which in turn is based on the novel Dracula
  by Bram Stoker.
• Count Dracula is played as a handsome, charming nobleman.
• The film also introduced iconic images of
Dracula entering his victims' bedrooms through
  French doors/windows, wrapping his
cape around victims, and there was more
  emphasis on Dracula
  transforming into a bat.
• Dracula’s Daughter (1936)
-sequel to the 1931 film Dracula
-Dracula's Daughter tells the story of Countess Marya Zaleska, the daughter
of Count Dracula and herself a vampire.
• Son of Dracula (1943)
-Further sequel to the 1931 film
• House of Frankenstein (1944)
      -American monster horror film
• House of Dracula (1945)
-It was a direct sequel to House of Frankenstein and continued the theme of
combining Universal's three most popular monsters: Frankenstein's
monster, Count Dracula and The Wolf Man
• Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)
          -1948 American comedy horror film
• British horror film
• It is the first in the series of Hammer Horror films
inspired by the Bram Stoker novel Dracula.
• In the United States, the film was retitled Horror of
Dracula to avoid confusion with the 1931 film Dracula
• Brides of Dracula (1960)
      • It is a sequel to Hammer's original Dracula.
      • Dracula doesn’t feature in this movie at all
      • The story begins with a shot of a gloomy wood (Black Park,
        Buckinghamshire) as a voice-over intones:
"Transylvania, land of dark forests, dread mountains and black
unfathomable lakes, still the home of magic and devilry as the
nineteenth century draws to its close. Count Dracula, monarch of
all vampires is dead, but his disciples live on to spread the cult and
corrupt the world"
• Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966)
    • Sequal to the 1958 Dracula
    • At the end of the 1958 Dracula, Count Dracula gets killed.
    • The story opens with the final scenes from Dracula, showing
Dracula’s death at the hands of Dr. Van Helsing, accompanied
      by narration:
    • "After a reign of hideous terror, spanning more than a century,
the King of the Undead was finally traced to his lair high in the
Carpathian mountains. Throughout the decades, many had
sought to destroy him. All had failed. Here at last was an
adversary armed with sufficient knowledge of the ways of the
vampire, to bring about the final and absolute destruction. This
then was his fate. Thousands had been enslaved by the
obscene cult of vampirism. Now, the fountainhead himself
perished. Only the memory remained. The memory of the most
evil and terrible creature who ever set his seal on civilization."
• It seems to be a requiring theme within Hammers films,
of using a prologue normally with narration to set the
  scene of the film
• Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968)
• Taste the Blood of Dracula (1969)
• Scars of Dracula (1970)
• Dracula A.D. (1972)
• The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973)
• The legend of the 7 Golden Vampires (1974)

All these movies follow different stories of Count
Dracula
• Twilight is not the typical vampire film.
• It is an American romantic fantasy film
• Based on Stephenie Meyer's popular novel of the same
  name.
• It is the first film in The Twilight Saga film series.
• This film focuses on the development of the relationship
between Bella Swan (a teenage girl) and Edward Cullen
(a vampire), and the subsequent efforts of Cullen and his
  family
to keep Swan safe from a coven of evil vampires.
• There are action elements to the movies
• Following the first movie was Twilight: New Moon (2009)
• After New moon was Twilight: Eclipse (2010)
• Then it’s Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 1&2 (2011/2012)
• Dark Shadows is a 2012 American horror comedy film

was produced for television between 1966 and 1971.
• The film is directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp

been imprisoned in a coffin. Collins is eventually
unearthed and makes his way back to his
mansion, now inhabited by his dysfunctional
  descendants.
