The Power of Communication: Teachers vs. Students vs. Parents
When we communicate, we send a message to the receiver and get a feedback from the receiver that it delivered the right
intention and meaning. Communication is not talking. Itâs not a one-way and monotonous. Where there is an interaction
among the people, there is communication in progress. Today, we have so many technical tools to enable these interactions
among more than 2 members â video conferencing, social forums and discussions. But how it happens in an educational
institution?
How a teacher is communicating with the students on their appraisals, marks, attendance and improvement areas? How a
teacher is communicating with parents about the performance of their children? How a student is communicating with the
teacher on submitting the assigned home work / assignments? How a parent is communicating with the Teacher on
improving the performance of his/her child? Or is there a need, at all, for such communications?
Of course! Unless there is right communication among the stakeholders, there is no win-win situation for the parties. In this
case, it is win-win-win, if you had noticed! By stakeholders, I mean the Teachers, Students and Parents. Communication
develops trust and consistency strengthens it.
Which system do you think is capable of doing above mentioned needs of communication â effectively, efficiently and
user-friendly? Itâs none other than IEMS. IEMS stands for Integrated Education Management System.
IEMS is a comprehensive âSoftware as a Service (SaaS)â system that covers all aspects and operations of the institutions. It
helps to carry out the day to day operations smoothly, and it is powerful and flexible enough to handle all daily operations
effectively. This is a one package system which will reduce/eliminate the use of multiple software systems and provide
complete integration and conversion from legacy to our system.

Knowledge Management in Educational
Institutions
What is knowledge and how do you manage it?
According to me, knowledge is what the experience and
learning you have gained over a period of time about
something or someone. Also once you have gained
knowledge, it doesnât mean that it is going is to be the
same next year, next day or even next minute. World is
changing and technology is changing so rapidly.
If you consider an educational institution, there are
various factors which impact the performance of the
institution over a period of time. The factors include
location, teaching methods, admirable teachers,
.
infrastructure, number of years in service, student pass
percentage, community affiliations. When we talk about

How easy it is to get the data of a student who studied in
your institution 10 years back? How easy it is to conduct a
standardized appraisal process for your staffs with clarity and
transparency? How easy it is for your teacher, students and

Role of Top Management in managing the
Educational Institution
By Top management, I mean Principal or Dean or Chairman of the
educational trust. The top management holds the responsibility to
manage the day-to-day business and educational transactions that
happen in the institution.
Business transactions include income & expense entries, trial balance
sheets, Profit & Loss Statements, Ledger Reports, Fee Management,
addition of Inventory items, MIS reporting and much more. Educational
transactions include online admission & registration, managing
attendance of students & Teachers, employee appraisals, supervising
course delivery & Grade management, interactions among students,
parents and teachers.
Apart from managing the above mentioned processes, the top
management has to consistently look for ways to improve the working
conditions of the institution. Market is dynamic; technology and the
SALIENT FEATURES OF IEMS type of teaching methods are changing rapidly.
For an educational institution to prepare itself for the present and future
scenarios, two things should be adopted. One is survival of the fittest;
and the second is adopting an ERP system to manage the institution.
Survival of the fittest
As Charles Darwin had mentioned, âit is not the strongest or fastest or
most intelligent but the one adapting to the environment that survivesâ.
In our case, the educational institution that adapts to the current market
environment by deploying the right culture and cutting-edge technology
solutions, will survive the industry in the long run.
Education ERP System
Education ERP systems automate the activities of internal and external
management across the entire organization/institution. Examples of
internal management are attendance, grades, hostel allocation, etc. and
examples of external management are inventory management, asset
management, etc.
