2. What is a constellation? Constellation is a group of stars in
the sky with patterns that seems like figures. It was used by
farmers, and travelers to distinguish the seasons, and the
way.

What is it? Gemini is one of the
constellations of the zodiac. Gemini is
one of the 88 modern constellations
What’s the origin of the name?
Gemini is Latin for “twins” the constellation was named after the
twins castor and Pollux in Greek mythology.
3. Mythology
• According to mythology the Gemini constellation represents
the warriors and twins Castor and Pollux. Although the twins
Castor and Pollux share the same mother, Leda, the queen of
Sparta they have different fathers. Castor’s father was the king
of sparta Tyndarus while Pollux’s father was the powerful god
Zeus which means that Pollux is immortal(can’t die) and
Castor a mortal. When Castor the mortal died the god Zeus
decided to make Castor immortal, therefore the two twins are
together forever as the constellation of Gemini.
4. Who discovered it? It was described by the the astronomer Ptolemy
And still remains as one of the 88 modern constellations today.
He was a mathematician, astronomer, geographer, astrologer, and
poet of in the Greek Anthology. He actually discovered 48
constellations.

The mythology is of cancer is related to Hercules the son of the god
Zeus. When Hercules killed his family he had to pay for his actions and
was put under control of the king Eurystheous who set him a series of
labors. in the second of the labors he was ordered to kill the Hydra
who was multi headed monster. In order to distract Hercules she sent
a crab to bite him and distract him, but when Hercules was killing the
beast he crush the crab at the same time. After the battle the goddess
Hera awarded it’s bravery by placing the cram in the sky as a
constellation
