2. THE CONCEPT.
Film concept based on consumer culture.
Storyline is about a self absorbed young man called
Tony who one day while shopping spends all his money
and can’t afford to pay for transport home. Resulting in
him having to walk miles to get home. While walking he
meets a billionaire called Robert, who looks casual and
not very wealthy. Robert pays for Tony’s cab home, and
gives him some valuable advice that changes his life.
The target audience is basically anyone, who is familiar
with the modern day lifestyle of consumerism. People
aged 15- late 50’s.
The message behind the film is to be less absorbed in
consumer culture and be more caring to your fellow
man.
3. STAGES:
Pre- production:
Researched Consumer culture for the film concept. German Expressionism, Stop
motion for the film style. A montage of images might also be incorporated in film.
Consumer culture: Belk proposed that “Consumer culture is defined as a culture in
which the majority of consumers avidly desire (and some noticeable portion
pursue, acquire and display) goods and services that are valued for non-utilitarian
reasons, such as status seeking, envy provocation, and novelty seeking. (1998,
p105)

Did a storyboard mapping roughly how we would like film to turn out.
Organize room for casting actors.
Posted an advert on mandy.com,and emailed University head of drama to find
actors.
Filmed the casting and chose the actors.
As producer had to organize day of the shoot. i.e. how things are running to time,
equipment, keeping in touch with actors.
Production stage :Two days of shooting.
Post-production: Editing.
4. PROBLEMS FACED:
Took pictures in West end for montage, realized that the quality
would be too poor compared to the film, so had to re capture
images with better camera, this wasted time, as we had to
recapture the images.
On the day of the shoot we faced couple of problems such as
having to look or a tape or SD card for the digital camera, as we
though we could buy one from the university. Also most of the
shops didn’t have them in stock such as WHSmith, jessops. So
we ended up buying an SD card
We also received false information from the university guy, from
where we checked out the camera , who said we could use an
SD card to record our project, which turned out to be false.
We overcame this problems, by one of our actors having brought
his own camera which he lets us use.
We used his camera too take the pictures for the stop motion and
recorded a quarter of our films as we ran out of memory. We
overcame this situation by rescheduling the shoot.
5. EDITING
I was responsible for the editing
I used premier 5
took me about 30mins to organise the pictures and
videos I wanted to use
two hours to put everything together
then lost it all because of my laptop broke down
now I'm re-editing it again
6. WHAT’S LEFT:
Editing needs to be finished.
Montage of images still need to be added.
Soundtrack still needs to be found.
