1. About us
The Mathematical Grammar School is a unique school in Serbia,
specialized for students talented in mathematics, physics and
computer science, aged 13-18. It was established in 1966, and
extended in 2004 to include seventh and eighth grade (age 13-14).
Enrollment
What makes our school different is that our gifted students are
carefully selected through a specific admission process, which
includes a specific entry exam as well as an assessment of previous
achievements, both in school and in competitions. After this
process is completed approximately one hundred of the best
students from their generation are admitted with the top twenty
being enrolled into our special mentoring program.
Our faculty
Knowing that gifted students need gifted teachers, we value
excellence among our staff. Many staff members are former
students of the Mathematical Grammar School themselves. We also
cooperate with eminent educational and scientific institutions,
including the University of Belgrade, The Mathematical Institute of
the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Physics
Institute. This cooperation is particularly valuable to us since we
recruit the members of these prestigious institutions as our part-
time teachers: approximately twenty holding a PhD degree and
another 10 with an MSc degree.
Special Academic Program
A specialized curriculum ensures that the mathematics, physics and
computer science classes are taught on a highly advanced level.
We continuously improve our curriculum and teaching methods,
based on our own experience and research, as well as on the
experiences of the world’s leading educational and scientific
institutions, individual scientists and teaching experts. As a result,
we implement a variety of teaching methods, spanning from the
classical to the most modern.

2. Curriculum
The school year is divided into two semesters. Students are tested throughout the year, but receive a final
grade at the end of the school year.
The curriculum for each grade is predetermined and is the same for all students.
Achievements
Our students have won over 300 medals at international competitions in the fields of mathematics, physics,
computer science and astronomy, which is an exceptional, if not a unique accomplishment among all the
schools in the world. Apart from outstanding success in mathematics, physics, computer science and
astronomy, our students are also highly successful in other areas and regularly win awards in chemistry,
Serbian language, history, chess, drama, sports and more. Since 2013 we have been hosting our own
competition, the Mathematical Grammar School cup, which has attracted teams from many European
countries, and we hope it will grow further in the years to come.
