1. Evaluation of Guide
There were many things that I liked about my guide, however there were also things that I could
see, that I could actually improve on. I will firstly talk about the things that I liked about my guide.
One of the things that I liked about my guide was the colours I used. They were really colourful,
and that made the guide look a lot more interesting. The main reason to why I chose to use so
many different colours was purely because of my chosen target audience. Because they are
teenagers they will definitely be attracted to something which is colourful, so it was my priority to
make my guide look interesting with lots of colours, and I was able to do that successfully.
Another thing I liked was that I included a map in the guide. This is something that would
definitely help the readers, as they needed help to know where everything is. So, this was
something that would have certainly helped those who needed help to figure out where
everything is.
As well as that, I liked the use of images in my guide. For my guide I knew from the start I will need
to use a lot of images, and this is again because of my chosen target audience. As far as I know, I’m
also a teenager myself, and I knew that I will be a lot more attracted to something if it had images
present too. However, I had to pick out relevant images, so that it made sense no matter where I
decided to place them. I was able to have at least one image on each page, and if I wasn’t able to
do that, I made sure I had enough colour on that page, so that it urges the readers to read that
page too.
Lastly, I also liked the information I gave. This was really helpful and straight to the point.
However, I am definitely going to contradict myself here, and say that I would have liked it if I had
more space to add more information, but then I also think that if I had too much text, it will get to
a point where my target audience will stop reading, so I guess it was good I didn’t overcrowd my
guide with too much text, as it had to appeal to my target audience.
There were also a couple other things that I would have changed, if I was to re-do this guide. I
would mainly have liked to add in a few more events and activities in the guide. The reason to why
I would have done this is because there was a limited amount of these in the guide. Also, I feel like
there wasn’t much choice, even though I tried to pick out different events and activities, so that I
can fulfil mostly every teenagers choices.
Finally, I would also have liked to have added a background colour. For me the appearance of the
guide was really important, because I knew that the look of the guide is what would make or
break this guide. So, I think if I added a background colour it might have looked more appealing,
however because I didn’t want to overdo it, I decided to leave it.
Overall, I was pretty pleased with the outcome. Even though there were a couple things I would
change, it certainly doesn’t mean that I’m not proud of it, because I definitely am. This was a really
interesting task, and I will take on a lot more skills, which will help me in the tasks to come.
