Hello and thank you for joining this GreenBusinessOwner e-Tool tutorial on "Designing a Webinar Strategy for Your Green Business." My name is Nayelli Gonzalez; I'm a Marketing Associate here at Green Business Owner--and I'll share tips with you today on how you can use webinars to grow your green business. This video tutorial is based on an e-Tool of the same name, which is available at the GBO store online.

We'll begin by going over why Webinars are an Eco-Friendly Alternative for Green Businesses . We'll also review the benefits of using webinars as sales and marketing tools, and how to design and execute a successful webinar.
[CHANGE SLIDE]
Businesses are discovering that webinars provide a fresh way to interact with existing customers and reach a new client base. By using webinars, your small green business can connect with many customers at once and conduct business in new ways. Moreover, webinars are simply more environmentally responsible when compared with the long commutes associated with in-person meetings.
[CHANGE SLIDE]
Webinars are an eco-friendly option because they substitute long commutes and the creation of greenhouse gas emissions related to transportation; instead of traveling by car, train or airplane to meet you, participants can join your webinar from the comfort of their home or office.
[CHANGE SLIDE]
So, what exactly are webinars? A webinar is like a seminar conducted through the web. It is a type of web conference that allows a speaker to present information in digital format to an audience located in different geographic areas.
[CHANGE SLIDE]
So here are some basics. Webinar technologies allow presenters to speak via their computer or via a telephonic conference line, and share slide show presentations, documents, websites, text chats and whiteboards with participants. Polls, surveys and desktop sharing are other features offered by most webinar service providers. Through such webinar functionalities, businesses have many options to communicate their ideas to their audience. Webinar participants may interact with presenters and other participants through text chat and during the audio Q&A portion, which is typically at the end of each webinar.
[CHANGE SLIDE]
Businesses--everything from solar companies to green business consultants, from startups to established corporations--are entering the webinar space more and more, and are using webinars as marketing and sales tools to:
Communicate with and educate stakeholders
Connect with, engage, and excite existing customers
Meet potential new customers
Advertise product / service offering
Build brand awareness
Diversify marketing strategy
Differentiate from the competition
Webinars are excellent tools that help you teach your network about your product or service offering. At the same time, webinars are educational resources for participants that have the power to turn someone from a curious observer to a loyal customer.

Before choosing a specific webinar strategy, think about what your business needs to grow. Design a webinar strategy for your business with that in mind.
[CHANGE SLIDE]
Businesses use webinars for different reasons. The following are some categories of webinar strategies that are commonly used to grow business:
Educational -- where the presenter demonstrates their expertise in a specific topic that is of interest to a targeted audience.
Promotional -- which is soley used to promote their business, product and/or service.
Teaser-- tease participants with a glimpse of your product or service
Workshop / Q&A -- which give participants an opportunity to connect with content experts and develop their own expertise.

One of the first steps in designing your webinar strategy is choosing the right webinar technology for your business
There are several Webinar software technologies out in the market. When deciding on which webinar software platform to use, think about what your customers will respond to the best. Are your clients looking for a playful or casual type of webinar experience? This is a comparison chart of several popular webinar service providers and includes GreenBusinessOwner.com’s subjective review of each service. You can get obtain a copy of this from the e-Tool on our website.

Once you’ve chosen the webinar technology that meets your business needs, it’s time to schedule, plan, and conduct a webinar!
[CHANGE SLIDE]
Use the webinar program to schedule a webinar meeting and allow for open registration. Remember to choose a date and time for your webinar that works for your desired audience. The key to a successful webinar is to plan ahead, so plan plan plan and do a test run of your webinar presentation beforehand.
During the webinar, it's important to engage with your audience in a 2-way communication flow, depending on your desired outcome and your implementation strategy. People love to be heard, so if you want to engage your audience, don’t just speak--listen to them, too!
After the webinar, make sure to thank your participants for joining you on the webinar. Send an email to all attendees, and attach webinar materials in PDF format. In your email, you may also invite participants to join your social networks, accept a free trial or purchase your product/service. Post-webinar followups are the key to turning potential customers into actual clients!
