 The ability to read effectively and efficiently is a fundamental
  factor in a child’s future success.
 Difficulty in learning to read can lead to reduced self-esteem as
  well as lower levels of achievement.
    Self-esteem is crucial to children’s social and academic
     development.
    Non-readers feel like they are the only ones who can’t read (which is
     not true!)
 Supporting the acquisition of reading skills is part of a spiral of
  personal, social and academic success.
      is fundamental to function as a Yid.

 “Students who do not develop reading fluency, regardless
   of how bright they are, are likely to remain poor readers
                    throughout their lives.”
“Helping a child to become a reader is one
of the greatest gifts that an adult can give;




 a gift that continues to pay dividends
   throughout the child’s life.”
 There are 3 partners
   Parents
   Teacher
   The reader
 Learning to read is a partnership
 between home and school.
 Research shows that a vital factor in determining
 children’s success in learning to read is support at
 home.
 Parents
  The parents encourage their children day after
  day, year after year, to read, read and read
  more.
 Teacher
  The teacher spends his whole year teaching
  the child how to decode words.
 The reader
  The child practices how to read.
 Parents should support and encourage their
  children to read.
    The more a child reads the better his reading
     will be.
 Parents should get to know their child’s teacher
  and know what their teacher expects.
    Parents should stay informed about their child’s
     progress and should ask the teachers ways they
     can help.
 Parents should encourage their children to
  be good readers by praising their children
  for their effort.
 Parents should show their children how
  much they value reading. They should
  spend time with their children in a relaxed
  setting and should have their children read
  to them.
