This document introduces several new characters that have moved to Deasil Street, including the Williams family (Aimee, Marley, and Malika), who have relocated from a bigger town to the smaller town of Appaloosa. It also describes interactions between the characters, including Malika being shy but finding a friend in Megan Bailey after Megan takes charge. Aimee also meets and connects with their neighbor Teresa Bailey. The document sets up future storylines around how Malika and her parents will adjust to their new home and community and whether Pablo and Jennifer Martinez will reconcile their relationship.
2. Jen confronting Pablo,
who promises to clean
up his act.
Jen forgave Pablo and agreed to
return home, but on the condition
he would sleep on the sofa for a
night. Just so she could sleep on her
decision, make her mind up without
distraction
3. Pablo vowed to do one better, he
would spend the night in a hotel, she
could have the house to herself.
Alone in the marital bedroom, Jen
came to the conclusion she would
give her marriage a second chance.
4. She explained to Pablo how she felt over
breakfast the next day. She was giving them
a shot, but he would have to change his
ways and earn her trust.
5. She had to make her position
clear again when they went to
bed that night. He had to earn
his way back into her good
books…
6. Ariette finally got round to enrolling Annette in
the local school, and today is her first day. It’s
pretty nerve-wracking. She had lived at her
previous school since she was 6 months old,
everyone else was new. She was the one who
knew how everything worked.
7. She and Megan Bailey got on at the same stop, so
Megan slipped into the seat next to her. She tried
talking to her, but Annette was just too shy to
respond fully.
8. Throughout the day, Annette
hung around Megan. The
other girl was bright,
confident, had loads of
friends – everything she was
supposed to be. Annette
decided if she got a second
chance, she’d befriend
Megan in an instant.
9. At home, Megan didn’t feel
like someone to be envied.
She felt like her dad was trying
to get her to be something she
wasn’t. The only thing she
really liked about her room
was the game table.
10. She tried to be enthusiastic
about the costume Warren
got her. It was meant to be a
treat, a princess dress with a
hat. She said she loved it, but
she didn’t. She didn’t feel like
princess material.
11. How she envied James, given the
space to do his own thing, decorate
his area how he liked.
12. She would come up with a plan. There had to be a
way of letting her dad know she wasn’t a girly girl
without hurting his feelings or being a disappoint.
In the meantime, she’d trash the dress by playing
outside. In the mud.
13. Annette was struggling
with the role being
doled out to her as well.
Harry was not
impressed when he
heard she had been
given no homework.
14. So Harry made up an assignment. The
study of the Vickers family through
the ages, with a thousand word
summary by the weekend.
15. She was also instructed to begin extra-
curricular activities in the arts and in
foreign languages. She would be an
accomplished young lady in the Vickers
tradition soon enough.
16. She was miserable, but Ariette and
Harry were pleased with her progress.
18. As it turns out, both girls often
choose to stay at school for a little
while at the end of the day. To do
their homework, and keep out of
their parents hair.
19. It was somewhat
inevitable, on the
walk home after
they were kicked off
the school grounds,
that they would
become friends.
20. As night falls, figures approach the
house on the corner, number 3.
Opposite the Darkstone
residence. It’s a new family
moving into Deasil Street.
21. It was a small family, mum dad and daughter. They
were all tired, so didn’t make the rounds to meet
their neighbours right away.
22. Aimee and Marley Williams had up and moved to Appaloosa with their
daughter Malika to escape the rat race of the bigger towns. Appaloosa
might be up and coming, but it was still small enough to feel rural.
23. Their first meal in their new home was a
muted affair. Aimee and Marley had been
picking at each other day with the stress
of the move.
24. Malika had decided to
avoid their passive
aggressive squabbling
and eat outside.
25. She silently waved the two strangers
into the house. She’d watched them
come over from the house across
the street, but was too shy to talk to
them herself.
26. Aimee was surprised that their neighbours
just walked in to say hello, it wasn’t what
they were used to. Their old town had been
friendly, but this was like living in the fifties!
She hoped Appaloosa wasn’t going to be all
Stepford wives and gossip.
27. She was pleased to hear Teresa was gainfully
employed. Running her own business, gardener
and now a fledgling wine brewer, it was
impressive stuff. Aimee told Teresa she had
started out in teaching, but was hoping to make a
new start as a chef.
28. It was a big relief to find
someone on her wave-
length so quickly. Settling
into this new town might
now be too hard after all.
29. Malika was sent over the
road early the next morning
to meet Megan. She wasn’t
happy, meeting people like
this was so embarrassing.
30. Megan came out to meet
her, and Malika was
relieved that she took
charge straight away.
Megan chattered about the
school she’d be joining, the
places to play….
31. It seemed she had made
her first friend, and Megan
and made a new one.
