2. Mitch Blaser serves as chief operating officer
of Ironshore, Inc., and chief executive officer
of the Bermuda Platform. Prior to beginning
his career, Mitchell Blaser attended George
Washington University, where he earned a
bachelor of business administration in
accounting and business. Mitch Blaser
currently sits on the university’s board of
advisors.
3. Since 2013, the George Washington University
School of Business has had monetary donations
reduced by approximately a third. This reduction
came shortly after the dismissal of Dean Doug
Guthrie, who had been successfully growing
donations during his three years in the position.
Doug Guthrie was removed from his position
after the university closed its fiscal 2013 books
and discovered financial issues, including $13
million in overspending, which Guthrie could not
resolve with the school’s administrators.
4. Historically, whenever a change in deans
occurs, funding is reduced in the interim.
This is often due to the fact that donors want
to get to know the new dean and understand
his or her vision for the school's future. The
school's interim dean and board of advisors
expected a dip in funding and feel that
current efforts to engage donors and alumni
are leading to a promising and successful
future for the school.
