The document summarizes the author's main occupational roles and interests. As a student studying to become an occupational therapist, the author's primary role is being a student, with occupations centered around studying and reading. The author is also a member of the university women's rugby team, which involves practices, games, and social events. In addition to studying, the author enjoys outdoor activities like going to the beach and spending time with family and friends playing sports.
1. At the current point of my life I am studying towards being an occupational
therapist, therefore my main occupational role, or identity is being a student,
which means a lot of my occupations are centred around studying and reading.
2. Being a student also gives me the opportunity to join clubs and engage in new
occupations. This year I’ve joined the Otago varsity women's rugby team which
also requires a lot of time and commitment. This involves attending practices
and games as well as social events.
3. I also enjoy having occupations outside of studying. I feel I am quite an
occupationally adventurous person and enjoy spending time outdoors
especially at the beach, and doing things with friends.
4. I also think its important to
spend time with family as
much as possible. We play a
lot of sport together. (the photo
below is of us playing cricket)
and they are a fun bunch of
people to hang out with.
5. • I quite enjoy occupations that involve the outdoors. Especially camping with
a few good friends.
6. Along with camping I also enjoy fishing, I enjoy being able to catch something and make
a meal out of it. Mostly I enjoy fishing as it is something I learnt from my dad, and
something we did together for most of our family holidays.
7. I absolutely love
skiing. It’s an
occupation I’m not
very good at, and
have had quite a
few injuries, but I
still enjoy getting
out in the snow
and having fun.
My mother lives in
Wanaka and this
gives me the
chance to go
skiing in the winter
when I feel like it.
8. Ever since I was 14 I have been involved with rock climbing. I’ve always been afraid of
heights so its an occupation that is quite out of my comfort zone, but I enjoy the
challenge, and the feeling of accomplishment I get at the top of a climb.
9. I also spent 3 years working in a bar. This occupation taught me a lot of people
skills as I had to deal with a variety of people, with many of them being
intoxicated. This occupation taught me skills I can take with me in life.
10. I am currently studying to become an
occupational therapist. Its an occupation I
hope to get into one day as I enjoy
working with people. I’m quite interested
in working in a physical geriatrics setting
as I think elderly people are a lot of fun
and have so much wisdom and life
experience.
