- It’s fair to say that most companies recognize the need have the desire to be data driven, but execution is challenging. A study we commissioned shows that enterprises realize only 10-15% the expected value on their big data investments. Even Gartner says that more than 50% of all analytics projects fail…so investing in Big Data has fallen short of expectations. It’s the irony of having so much data, but struggling to make the most of it, so why? 1st problem is Silos and lack of alignment: Organizations are drowning in a sea of data, but they don’t know what to do with your data to get value and have silo-ed uncoordinated efforts and science experiments across the org Scale & fragmentation Traditional data warehouses constrain your ability to scale or extend to new data types and are complex Data is fragmented across applications and storage locations, making data management more and more difficult 2nd problem is the technology gap Traditional systems, architectures, and approaches were never designed for today’s data, falling short on the ability to handle the scale, the speed, or the variety of data, and deliver insights fast enough to meet business needs or they are just too cost prohibitive to deploy and manage 3rd problem Inability to bridge data to value: Just having the right technology tools in place doesn’t mean you’ll get the value of the data. Today there’s an operational chasm between the people and tools with value. Narrow analytics with limited relevance: Insights are backwards looking and generated in silos, with limited relevance to future business decisions. Analytics output have limited usefulness because search queries are too slow, and draw only on a fraction of available data The transformation that needs to occur is the transformation to an agile enterprise where decision makers are empowered with a single truth of the data to make real-time business decisions. That is the core of a Data Driven Enterprise and that requires a CHANGE in the way you’ve been doing business. So how do we make that change?

- Given that we here at SAP’s Sapphire event, perhaps the #1 question on your minds (if you haven’t done this exercise already) is how do you transform your business leveraging SAP’s HANA or the new S/4HANA solution.
