Miguel Chavis was born and raised in the Southeast corridor of Washington,D.C. He attended Hampton University
and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an Air Traffic Comptroller, where he served on the Air Craft Carrier U.S.S.
Theodore Roosevelt CVN 71, Norfolk, Virginia, doing two tours of combat duty – Operations Enduring Freedom
and Iraqi War Persian Gulf, receiving the Navy Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy “E”
Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.
Miguel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Homeland Security, and is
