INTRODUCTION

COURSE DEFINITION:
A two day seminar & hands-on training for
engineering design employees of SNC-Lavalin Fayez
Engineering for the application of SAES-P-123 (Saudi
Aramco Engineering Standards) in indoor, emergency,
outdoor & security lighting of Saudi Aramco Industrial
Projects with the use of DIALux 4.11 as the lighting
calculation software.

WIFM – What’s in it for me?

1. To refresh participants with the design recommendations
according to SAES P-123, IESNA and NFPA 70
2. To apply the design recommendations using SLC Products in
future Saudi ARAMCO Substation Projects
3. To build a strong foundation where participant can design,
calculate and estimate lighting for any given task, room or
area in a ARAMCO substation project.

6. MAINTENANCE FACTOR
- Also called Light Loss Factor
- Demand to meet target lux level
after time and dirt has taken its toll
on the fixture
- Combination of Recoverable and
Non-Recoverable Factors that will
affect the light output of fixture in
time:
- Some of these factors can be
computed and some are intelligently
assumed values

6. MAINTENANCE FACTOR
- For this reason, we assign practice-tested values to use
when doing lighting design thus, we have come up with:
a. Indoor
~ Clean (cleanroom application, laboratory, etc): 0.9
~ Normal (office, library, living room, etc): 0.8
~ Dirty (workshops, maintenance, etc): 0.7
~ Wet or dusty (laundry, meatshops, saw mills) 0.5
c. Outdoor
~ All exterior areas 0.7
~ Extremely Dusty or Wet 0.5
(marina areas, foggy or dusty sites)
