2. The new borders
In April 2010, many of the plots were edged with new
red gum borders
3. New Planting
By June 2010 we’d put in
seeds and seedlings and
covered them with protective
bird mesh.
We’d also laid two treated
pine planks down the middle
(much to Rob’s disapproval
because of the chemicals in
the pine).
4. Visitors from NZ
In October 2010, Ian and Yvonne, who I met on the FNQ
tour, visited from Christchurch. Notice the new raised
bed beside our plot.
5. Tending the Compost
It’s April 2011, the silver beet is growing, cauliflower
seedlings are doing well and Bryan is turning the
compost in the worm farm.
6. Nerine comes to lend a hand
It’s June 2011 and the cauliflowers are coming on
7. Winter
June 2011 and the broad
beans next door are doing
well!
Will my lettuces survive the
snails and birds?
