Subjects
Subjects The subject tells who or what is doing something or being something. Usually the subject is a noun—a person, place, or thing.  (Fred, San Francisco, chair) A subject can also be a pronoun—a word that takes the place of a noun.  (he, she, it, they) Wilbur laughs. He is in a good mood.
Compound Subjects Sometimes a sentence has more than one subject.   A subject with more than one part is called a compound subject. Abid and Sam cooked the meal. The monkey and the lion helped the princess.

Subject Pretenders Sometimes the subject of a sentence is hard to identify because of a subject pretender. One type of subject pretender is a prepositional phrase, which begins with a preposition.
Prepositions A preposition is a word that expresses how other words are related in time, space, or another sense.
Common Prepositions Look at your list of prepositions Make sure you are able  to recognize a preposition for the first quiz
