1. Rough Cut 3 – Editing Blog
Since the last rough cut, I have progressed my editing even further than before,
looking deeper into my film, and working on my feedback to further edit my
music video into a better, more refined piece if coursework.
Mostly, since rough cut 2, I have almost finished pacing my footage into the right
places, and having all my footage imported and selected into my music video,
having only one shot not in the timeline to complete my film placement. As well
as this, I have also added more effects over the top of my project that have been
seen before, such as adding bad TV and Security footage over the top of the news
presenter, and further adding it on top as done with before.
Newly in this rough cut, I had the idea to
make a real distortion in the video, something
more interesting, giving a ghost effect to the
news reporter when it is supposed to be
really distorted, I did this by getting three of
the identical clip, layering them on top of each
other, then moving the frames slightly apart,
so they are out of sync, then I decreased the
opacity on the top 2 layers creating a ghosting
effect from the movement.
As well as this, I added the prism and security
filter over the top; this was to continue the
grainy film distortion that I
was intending to do on all the
footage of the news
presenter.
As well as this, I had the film prepared to do the burning effect, and after a lot of
hassle trying to think of how I was planning on doing this. I had the idea of
getting a fire overlay,
which was very effective,
finding a whole screen
burning footage, as
documented on my blog,
then adding it over the
top of other footage.
To make the footage look
like it’s burning as well, I
2. used a piece of footage and cut it up, this footage could then be manipulated into
the effect I wanted. For some of the effects, I scaled up and moved different parts
of the footage, to show mass distortion to the products, as well as this, I added
more overlays over the top to have the
burning feel. Among these overlays I
had the effects Aura (for a burning
look of the news presenter) as well as
projector, 50’s, Sharpen and memory.
On top of this, I used some of the
generators in Final cut, the blobs
generator, and added the footage of
the cross on top in flashes. After
decreasing the opacity on top, this
helps the layering, and shows the
burning effect intended as well.
Finally, I used the retime tool to once
again increase the speed of the footage
of the news reporter, to create a
distorted effect, and added the x-ray
filter on some of the shots for effect.
