To Whom it May Concern,
I worked With Mary Jo Nelson at Wireless World in St. Anthony from 2008 to 2013, she was my
manager at the time. Mary Jo was very involved with the St. Anthony community and customers love
her. I am still a part of the community, as I work and live in the area and every customer I have seen
since she had gone to Monticello store have all said they same thing. They say , “it's not the same
without Mary Jo.”[ They don't get the same detailed help they use to and some have even said they
stopped going to Wireless World because of it.
When I left in 2013 I was told I was had to do an exit interview. It was my understanding that
this was going to be normal practice for employees that were leaving Wireless World. I had an exit
interview with both Mary Jo and Matt Jansen. I do not remember the exact questions ,but they were
along the lines of what did you like about Wireless World, Mary Jo and area that could use
improvement.
Mary Jo and I kept a personal relationship after leaving Wireless World. After she was
terminated from Wireless World it came to my attention that my exit interview with Matt Jansen had
been used as a way to get Mary Jo out of a manager’s position and ultimately out of the company. I felt
that he used my exit interview as a way to file complaints against Mary Jo. Matt also told her that I
requested a private meeting, which to I do not remember asking for. I thought this was the new practice
of the company. I was under the impression that the purpose of this exit interview was to strengthen
management and to improve their employees, not tear them down . Which is how I felt it was handled
after I heard what happened. Mary Jo was not a perfect manager, but in the past and present jobs I have
had I have yet to find a manager who excels in all aspects of a job, which can be said of myself too. She
was always willing to go above and beyond for customers, was always bringing in new business for the
company, and worked long hours to benefit Wireless World. I feel that my exit interview is being used
as a tool to show Mary Jo’s lack of management skill and I do not agree with that. Mary Jo successfully
ran the St. Anthony store and was then moved to a bigger, busier location and I feel that if she weren’t
competent that would not have happened.
