GEOGRAPHIC PROFILE
The Gap Football Club (TGFC) is located approximately 9km northwest of the Brisbane CBD at Walton
Bridge Reserve, off Waterworks Road and is adjacent to The Gap Shopping Village.
The Gap and its surrounding suburbs of Ashgrove, Bardon, Enoggera, Brookfield and Mt. Cootha have a
total population of approximately 50,000. The median/average age of The Gaps population is 40 years
old, 3 years above the Australian average.
The Gap draws on members from a number of nearby schools including The Gap State School, Payne
Road State School, Hilder Road State School, St Peter Chanel Primary, Ashgrove State School, Marist
College and Mount St Michaels College.
With an average household of 2.9 the suburb consists 57% of families and 43% singles. 40% of homes in
the area have already been purchased outright with a further 44% in the process of being purchased by
home loan mortgage, and just 16% currently being rented. The median individual income is $746 per
week and the median household income is $1,937 per week.
The Gap is readily accessible from the CBD via three bus services which punctuate major areas of business
and trade throughout The Gap and its neighboring suburbs during their daily run.
CLUB PROFILE
The Gap Pastime Club was formed in 1955, with the aim to establish an Amateur Recreation Club
covering as many sports as there were people interested in them, hence the name The Gap Pastime Club.
The club has experienced many changes over the past 60 years including the coming and goings of sports
such as cricket, softball, netball, basketball and swimming. Over the last few years however the Clubs
main focus has been the sport of football and in 2014 the Club changed its name to The Gap Football Club
(TGFC).
pictures: the interior of the clubhouse following the refurbishment in 2015
Ever since its early days TGFC has adopted the unique colors of Gold and Purple from the suburb name,
and was incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981. Today TGFC, affectionately
referred to over many years as the Gap Gators, is an amateur association football club catering for the
sporting requirements of its members [both senior and junior - male and female] from both the local, and
broader Brisbane community.
TGFC has a proud history in Brisbane Football, with over 55 junior teams competing at various levels of
the game, and an alumni including current Brisbane Roar players Luke De Vere & Corey Brown, as well as
Danny Invincible (former Swindon Town, Kilmarnock and St. Johnstone player), Ben Griffin (former
Ollyroo, Brisbane Roar and Gold Coast United player), Conor and Steve O'Neill (formerly Middlesbrough
FC academy), Pam Bignold (former Brisbane Roar and Matilda), Tammie Thornton (former Matilda), Kym
Revell (former Matilda), Lisa Dunne (former Matilda), Amy Beattie (former Matilda) and Ellen Beaumont
(former Matilda). The current Captain of our highly successful Womens NPL team [Ruth Blackburn] is a
former young Matilda and has spend several years playing in the Westfield W League for both Brisbane
Roar and Adelaide United - Ruth began playing her football at The Gap. TGFC has coordinated several
elite girls and women’s programs including the Junior Premier League and Playstation 4 National Premier
League which are Football Queensland competitions.
pictures: current Brisbane Roar player Corey Brown with some of our junior players, and former Young Matilda & Brisbane Roar Westfield W
League player Ruth Blackburn who has returned to her roots as Captain of our ever conquering Womens NPL Team
The recently completed 2016 season was the Clubs best on record with the Men's first team winning the
Capital 2 Premiership, the Men's reserves winning the Capital 2 Reserve Premiership and the Women's
first team not dropping a point all season whilst retaining their Playstation 4 Queensland National Premier
League title. The junior teams [under 12's through to under 16's] also took out five premierships and had
eleven teams competing in the 2016 Grand Finals. In 2017 the Men's first team will be making a
concerted effort to return to the Brisbane Premier League, where they last completed in the early 2000's,
and our Ladies [who are by far the most successful Women's team in Queensland] will be chasing their
4th successive NPL title. 2017 will also see the club competing in the Super Youth League [SYL] at both the
under 14 & under 15 level with the Girls competing in the elite NPL competition at under 13, under 15 &
under 17 levels.
Our player membership numbers rank TGFC among the largest clubs in the Brisbane region where there
are over 75 registered clubs and our 70 teams travel to the extremities of Brisbane and Southeast
Queensland on a weekly basis. In 2016, the club had 1350 active members and volunteers for the first
time, as it builds on growth in player number over the past five years.
Key areas of focus for TGFC in the immediate future are:
 The up skilling of junior coaches with a desire to see all members to benefit from qualified
coaching standards in line with Football Associate Australia Curriculum;
 The ongoing success of our senior women’s teams and successful implementation of the National
Premier League program for women at TGFC;
 Promotion of the Senior Men’s 1st
team into the Brisbane Premier League; and
 TGFC prides itself on its reputation as a family and community based club with a great culture and
outstanding facilities to offer its members. We retain a strong emphasis on participation and
enjoyment as well as having teams in higher grade competitions where results are valued. We
cater for a large demographic, with members ageing from 3 to 75 years old.
WHAT CAN A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CLUB DO FOR YOUR BUSINESS?
TGFC is a resource for local businesses. It can provide direct access to over 1350 members which
represents an opportunity for local businesses to expand their market share via significant exposure to
the local community and its neighbours. The club offers official partnerships that encapsulate the entire
football Club. Our partnerships offer direct access via:
 a number of mediums of advertising and write ups including circulated club newsletters;
 Exposure on our social media;
 exposure via our fully functioning club website generating over 10,000 hits per month;
 front or rear of jersey business logos emblazoned on club playing kits [all age groups] ;
 invitation to local business networking events held at the club such as the annual sponsor day;
 Promotional activities with the players;
 the provision of TGFC playing shirt for your shop window as a sign of thanks and participation in
our community; and
 A tax deduction for your donation.
TGFC is willing to consider any proposal, including tailoring specific packages to suit the individual needs
of a business, and may take into consideration some form of reciprocal arrangements relating to product
in kind, hosting of external functions etc.
WHAT ARE SPONSORSHIP PROCEEDS USED FOR?
Proceeds from donations will be allocated to the acquisition of necessary equipment for teams to
participate in their competitions, such as playing strips and footballs. This will allow the broader
membership funds the club generates to be allocated toward the ongoing improvement of facilities at
TGFC and the wider community.
TGFC is a proud member of The Gap Community and its growing memberships indicate just how
entrenched The Club has become in the lives of the residents of The Gap and its surrounding suburbs.
TGFC is hopeful that official partnerships will create the opportunity to build long term relationships with
the commercial members of The Gap community who can help us to build a happy, healthy suburb for as
all to enjoy and thrive in.

  • 2. GEOGRAPHIC PROFILE The Gap Football Club (TGFC) is located approximately 9km northwest of the Brisbane CBD at Walton Bridge Reserve, off Waterworks Road and is adjacent to The Gap Shopping Village. The Gap and its surrounding suburbs of Ashgrove, Bardon, Enoggera, Brookfield and Mt. Cootha have a total population of approximately 50,000. The median/average age of The Gaps population is 40 years old, 3 years above the Australian average. The Gap draws on members from a number of nearby schools including The Gap State School, Payne Road State School, Hilder Road State School, St Peter Chanel Primary, Ashgrove State School, Marist College and Mount St Michaels College. With an average household of 2.9 the suburb consists 57% of families and 43% singles. 40% of homes in the area have already been purchased outright with a further 44% in the process of being purchased by home loan mortgage, and just 16% currently being rented. The median individual income is $746 per week and the median household income is $1,937 per week. The Gap is readily accessible from the CBD via three bus services which punctuate major areas of business and trade throughout The Gap and its neighboring suburbs during their daily run. CLUB PROFILE The Gap Pastime Club was formed in 1955, with the aim to establish an Amateur Recreation Club covering as many sports as there were people interested in them, hence the name The Gap Pastime Club. The club has experienced many changes over the past 60 years including the coming and goings of sports such as cricket, softball, netball, basketball and swimming. Over the last few years however the Clubs main focus has been the sport of football and in 2014 the Club changed its name to The Gap Football Club (TGFC). pictures: the interior of the clubhouse following the refurbishment in 2015
  • 3. Ever since its early days TGFC has adopted the unique colors of Gold and Purple from the suburb name, and was incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981. Today TGFC, affectionately referred to over many years as the Gap Gators, is an amateur association football club catering for the sporting requirements of its members [both senior and junior - male and female] from both the local, and broader Brisbane community. TGFC has a proud history in Brisbane Football, with over 55 junior teams competing at various levels of the game, and an alumni including current Brisbane Roar players Luke De Vere & Corey Brown, as well as Danny Invincible (former Swindon Town, Kilmarnock and St. Johnstone player), Ben Griffin (former Ollyroo, Brisbane Roar and Gold Coast United player), Conor and Steve O'Neill (formerly Middlesbrough FC academy), Pam Bignold (former Brisbane Roar and Matilda), Tammie Thornton (former Matilda), Kym Revell (former Matilda), Lisa Dunne (former Matilda), Amy Beattie (former Matilda) and Ellen Beaumont (former Matilda). The current Captain of our highly successful Womens NPL team [Ruth Blackburn] is a former young Matilda and has spend several years playing in the Westfield W League for both Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United - Ruth began playing her football at The Gap. The junior teams [under 12's through to under 16's] also took out five premierships and had eleven teams competing in the 2016 Grand Finals. In 2017 the Men's first team will be making a concerted effort to return to the Brisbane Premier League, where they last completed in the early 2000's, and our Ladies [who are by far the most successful Women's team in Queensland] will be chasing their 4th successive NPL title. 2017 will also see the club competing in the Super Youth League [SYL] at both the

Our player membership numbers rank TGFC among the largest clubs in the Brisbane region where there are over 75 registered clubs and our 70 teams travel to the extremities of Brisbane and Southeast Queensland on a weekly basis. In 2016, the club had 1350 active members and volunteers for the first time, as it builds on growth in player number over the past five years. Key areas of focus for TGFC in the immediate future are:  The up skilling of junior coaches with a desire to see all members to benefit from qualified coaching standards in line with Football Associate Australia Curriculum;  The ongoing success of our senior women’s teams and successful implementation of the National Premier League program for women at TGFC;  Promotion of the Senior Men’s 1st team into the Brisbane Premier League; and  TGFC prides itself on its reputation as a family and community based club with a great culture and outstanding facilities to offer its members. We retain a strong emphasis on participation and enjoyment as well as having teams in higher grade competitions where results are valued. We cater for a large demographic, with members ageing from 3 to 75 years old.
  • 5. WHAT CAN A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CLUB DO FOR YOUR BUSINESS? TGFC is a resource for local businesses. It can provide direct access to over 1350 members which represents an opportunity for local businesses to expand their market share via significant exposure to the local community and its neighbours. The club offers official partnerships that encapsulate the entire football Club. Our partnerships offer direct access via:  a number of mediums of advertising and write ups including circulated club newsletters;  Exposure on our social media;  exposure via our fully functioning club website generating over 10,000 hits per month;  front or rear of jersey business logos emblazoned on club playing kits [all age groups] ;  invitation to local business networking events held at the club such as the annual sponsor day;  Promotional activities with the players;  the provision of TGFC playing shirt for your shop window as a sign of thanks and participation in our community; and  A tax deduction for your donation. TGFC is willing to consider any proposal, including tailoring specific packages to suit the individual needs of a business, and may take into consideration some form of reciprocal arrangements relating to product in kind, hosting of external functions etc.
  • 6. WHAT ARE SPONSORSHIP PROCEEDS USED FOR? Proceeds from donations will be allocated to the acquisition of necessary equipment for teams to participate in their competitions, such as playing strips and footballs. This will allow the broader membership funds the club generates to be allocated toward the ongoing improvement of facilities at TGFC and the wider community. TGFC is a proud member of The Gap Community and its growing memberships indicate just how entrenched The Club has become in the lives of the residents of The Gap and its surrounding suburbs. TGFC is hopeful that official partnerships will create the opportunity to build long term relationships with the commercial members of The Gap community who can help us to build a happy, healthy suburb for as all to enjoy and thrive in.
