The document is an invitation to an Applied Gaming Masterclass hosted by TNO on July 4th in Delft, Netherlands. The one-day program will explore the possibilities of gaming in the NGO sector and teach key methodologies for game development. Attendees will experience two games, GO4IT and an e-learning game about Sudan, and learn about design experiences, benefits of games for NGOs, and future challenges. Josine van de Ven
Marc van den Homberg is the co-founder and leader of the
ICT4D team at TNO. Marc develops and applies pro-poor ICT
related innovations in post-conflict reconstruction and disaster
recovery settings as well as in developing countries (inclusive
innovation). He is a reserve officer for the civil-military inter-
action commando where he focuses on the comprehensive
approach. He holds an MBA from the Rotterdam School of
Management (with a specialization on entrepreneurship in
emerging economies) and a PhD in physics.
Hester Stubbé joined TNO as a researcher and technical consultant
in the department of ‘Training & Performance Innovations’. Her
research focuses on self-directed learning, work-based learning,
experiential learning and the development of innovative learning
solutions needed to achieve that. Currently she is working on pro-
jects with primary schools, secondary schools, out-of-school children
in Sudan, small and medium-sized enterprises and in the safety &
security domain.
Mark Ruijsendaal is business line manager at TNO. He is
responsible for strategy, marketing and portfoliomanagement.
Research topics include ‘privacy & identity management’, ‘
user empowerment’, ‘ evidence based policy & strategy’ and ‘
life-long learning’.
Josine van de Ven is a program manager at the department of ‘Trai-
ning & Performance Innovations’. Here work focuses in the domain
of crisis management and her expertise humans in complex infor-
mation environments. She has a background in computer science
and cognitive science.
Marijn Rijken works as a business consultant and project
manager at TNO, the Netherlands Organisation for Applied
Scientific Research. He advises companies, governments and
NGO's on the use of innovative ICTs and has a vast experience
in among others, the telecommunications, health and energy
sector. Since 2006 Marijn is specialising in ICT for Develop-
ment (ICT4D), is co-leading TNO’s market activities in this field.
Anja studied educational technology and obtained a PhD in
applications of Artificial Intelligence to educational techno-
logy from the University of Amsterdam in 1996. At present,
she is program manager and senior researcher at the Dutch
research organization TNO in the field of Serious Gaming. She
headed the development of the Go4it game.
