This document discusses a project to integrate Second Life and Google Maps to create an interactive experience about Malcolm X across different platforms. The project was created by an Honors COM 101-160 class in the Fall 2007 semester, instructed by Amani Wazwaz and assisted by librarians Troy Swanson and Larry Sloma. It explores using Second Life, a 3D online virtual world, in an educational classroom setting.

2. What is Second Life?
• A three dimensional persistent online environment (“world”).
• Accessed using special free software and an Internet connection.
• Access and many materials (clothing, etc.) are free.
• All content (buildings, clothing, etc.) is created by users.
• Every user is represented by a self determined “avatar.”
• Used for recreation, socializing, business, education, and cultural pursuits.
