What you see here is sustainable development being placed centrally within our vision and our brand: We want to use power of Games to inspire change: - Change in people’s lives -Change in sports participation -Change in communities and the environment That is what sustainability is all about – it is an agenda for positive, long-term change – for sport, for people and for the environment. This is the reality for London 2012 and in this day and age for the Olympic Movement too
Last year the London 2012 Olympic Board adopted an overarching sustainability policy which centred on five key themes Climate Change Waste Biodiversity Inclusion Healthy Living These are the priority areas where we feel we can make most difference. But they are not discrete, isolated themes; they are interdependent and cross-cutting, providing an holistic, comprehensive and joined-up approach to sustainability
