I have been on a diet since I was in the fifth grade. Before that, I did not really care much how my
body looked; I just knew I was cute. But in the fifth grade, things changed. Suddenly I was aware
that my body was not as "nice" as the others. I would not really describe myself as fat. I'm not
model skinny but I'm far from being obese. So it is a little weird for me. I realized at a early age
that weight loss for women is a very serious issue in the eyes of women. A lot of people will say I
should not diet because I'm "Ok." And I guess I am ok if we were just talking weight. But like a
million's of other women out there, I do have a problem area. It started when I stayed late in
school one day and watched the girls during their ballet class. I remember thinking that I would not
look so good in tights and leotards. I was amazed at how small their waists and stomachs were. I
have always had a big stomach so seeing the ballerinas just made me feel worse. From that day
on, I have been trying to lose weight. If you think about it even as a little girl we would always talk
about how some women were so skinny like Cindy Crawford or any super model. Now that I look
back on that it makes me realize that weight loss for women was a obsession with us " little girls "
when we were younger.
Or, to be more honest, I have been trying to lose my stomach. I never had a flat stomach, much
less a six-pack. I think the best situation has been when my stomach is small enough to hide.
Though there have been times when my belly would show no matter what I wore. I actually would
not mind being plump or chubby as long as my stomach was flat. It amazes me how some girls
who are bigger than me have flatter stomachs. Like I really envy Oprah. Even when she's big, her
stomach does not bulge like mine does. Clothes fit so much better when your waist is small and
your stomach is flat. Somehow, a few extra pounds become less noticeable. I've tried a lot of
diets, and some of them actually worked - South Beach, the Three Day Diet, no meat diet, and
Atkins. Heck, I've even tried Madonna's popcorn diet. They all worked for me, but only short-term.
Eventually, the pounds would creep back. Then I'd have to diet all over again. That's how it has
been for me since the fifth grade. I'd diet and lose weight, then gain it back and have to do it all
over again. And yes, I have tried exercise routines as well - Taebo, Hip Hop Abs, Yoga Booty
Ballet. Unfortunately, I could never maintain an exercise routine for more than a few months. Two
kids, a full-time job... I need sleep. Weight Loss for women in today's modern age where the
women are no longer staying home but they are going out in the job market at working.
So, it has been a long, frustrating experience. I wish I could say I've finally got the body I want, but
that would not be true. I'm still hoping to lose weight and my stomach. I think I might have to go
the route of plastic surgery. Going under the knife scares me though and, to be honest, I can't
afford it. Maybe one day I will be able to save enough for it. And maybe one day I'll be able to talk
myself out of my fears of going under the knife. Maybe one day I'll have the body I've always
wanted. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
