The plains zebra's scientific name is Equus quagga. It ranges from Ethiopia to Angola and eats grass, herbs, and shrubs. It stands 3.5 to 5 feet tall and weighs 200 to 300 pounds, with a lifespan of around 25 years. Zebras give birth to one foal at a time, up to three total. They are known for their distinctive striped pattern and are impossible to domesticate.
