Loesche supplies first two vert¡cal rollers mills for
cement to Saudi Arabia
Southern Province Cement Co (SPCC) is building a new brownfield cement line in Bisha,
Saudi Arabia with a clinker production capacity of 5000t/day. The complete plant delivery
and execution was contracted to China National Building Materials (CNBM). SPCC decided
to install and operate the first two vertical roller mills for cement grinding in the Kingdom.
These have been contracted from Germany's Loesche GmbH.
fhe two cement mills supplied to SPCC are both
I Loesche Type LM 56.3+3 with a rated capacity of
a minimum of 200Llhr. SPCC's previous experience
with two raw material Loesche mills at its Tahamah
site (with a third under construction), a very low
specifrc energy demand from the milling system
and Loesche's global experience were major factors
behind the company's decision to contract Loesche
to supply Saudi Arabia's first vertical roller mills for
cement grinding.
In addition SPCC wished to be ready for
a chang-
ing market, requiring grinding capability not just
for simple OPC cements but also various types of
additive cements over a wide range of different
product finenesses.
For the grinding of cement raw material SPCC
in favour ofa Loesche vertical roller
mill type LM 56.4. Due to the unique modular design
concept of Loesche vertical roller mills, the major
spare parts for the two cement mills are identical to
those required for the new cement raw material mill
at the Bisha site as well as for the existing mills at the
Tahamah site, keeping the spare parts demand for
has also decided
SPCC to a
