In between the lines, we want to put the managers into an uncomfortable situation where they think “If I don’t spend the extra money on Ungerboeck, then I’m sending my staff a message that they’re not important to me”

One IT manager told us, “That’s awesome. It’s such a little thing that saves SOOO much time. Heck, we just bought a system for 2 million dollars and it doesn’t even have that feature.”Using v20: Show the account or event AJAX combo. This illustrates recently used as well.

Best if there is an accounting person in the room. Since the accounting person will likely be sleeping by this point in the presentation, it’s best to announce at the beginning of this slide, “For those accounting people in the room” or “Do we have any Accounting or Finance people in the meeting?” to wake them up. Accounting people are very protective of their systems, so you will want to reiterate that the “accounting modules are optional” and “if you continue to use your current accounting system, you will be happy to note that interfacing to an existing accounting system is MUCH easier because Ungerboeck is based upon a financial foundation. Your auditors will allow you to save a lot of double-entry and run Ugnerboeck as a subsidiary receivables ledger because the auditing features are built into Ungerboeck.”Show how you can view the AR balance directly from the customer screen. Log in as a different user who does not have that field shown if it’s necessary to convince the users that the security is there to hide it.
Other systems allow you to send an email, but the text of the email doesn’t get saved in the database. Show the text of the email in the database and tell a story about how that makes the staff look more professional. It saves time because you don’t need to tell a customer that you need to talk to someone else and call them back… “If your customers are like our customers, I might play phone tag 3-4 times before I get them on the phone again… not only does playing phone tag frustrate clients, but it sure wastes a lot of time.”
Show the Hide/Show columns. Grouping and sorting. Show the export to Excel. Tell a story about how some customers spend 3-4 hours every week RE-keying information into a spreadsheet. You need to have multiple browsers installed to show this efficiently. That way, you can log in as separate users in each browser and select the “Remember me” checkbox for each. In Internet Explorer, log in as your primary users. Announce that this is the Power User. Show the Ungerboeck Default Layout.Switch to Firefox, tell the audience that you are now logging in as “New User”. Show the user name changes at the top. This user has a simplified look. (Alternative) Switch to Firefox, tell the audience that you are now logging in as “Accounting User”. Show that the accounting information is at the top of the screen and much of the non-accountin information is hidden.Switch to Safari, tell the audience that you are now logged in as a ”Client”. Show that their view and Global navigation menu is even more simplified.And, with this example, you’ve also shown the client collaboration and multiple browser compatibility features!!Another example of how it yields productivity:Someone should think of some examples (for each market segment) where one type of user needs one column and another user needs a different one. Bby adding that column to their view, they don’t need to click on each item to look at it. That saves a LOT of time.
