Where does the journey begin?
 Strong window presentation
The window reflects the store and attracts custom inside. It is important to use strong pieces
especially if you have quite bland POS as it attracts attention. Even if the POS is strong
you will need equally strong pieces otherwise the POS will overpower the products.
 Crisp clean cabinets
The cabinets must be glistening at all times in order to highlight the products and show them
to their best potential. A regular daily cleaning rota can help to ensure standards never
slip.
 Full prop layout
Ensure that all the layouts throughout the store are correct and are being used to their full
potential e.g. correct feature pieces on feature shelves and no best sellers on the bottom
shelf as this will encourage custom.
 Straight prices
It is important to ensure all prices within the store are straight as this makes them
comprehendible when customers are looking a the products and highlights what is best
suited to them.
 Back to basics
It is important to take people back to the beginning as this will remind them of how important
it is to acknowledge the customer and offer outstanding service.
 Make sure every customer is acknowledged with a warm and
friendly welcome
Welcoming every customer into your boutique especially with a smile ensures the customer
is greeted with a friendly atmosphere and this means they are more likely to browse for
longer then make a purchase.
 Train all team members to the highest standards
Training of team members to a high standard is incredibly important to conversion and can
be achieved through C,O,E, training alongside new product launches/information on a
regular basis via training meetings.
 Team training
Ensure the team are fully trained on everything that they need to know in order to actually
sell the product to the customer. The training can be updated and refreshed to ensure that
the team are always at the top of their game.
 Make training fun!
Get the team to lead the training session without them realising that they are doing it. This
not only gets them to really absorb the information, but they understand then use the
training for future results.
 Train all team members to the best of their ability. Incorporate role
play as this gives them insight into how the customer feels
Role play is very much thought of a scary part of training, however, this is the exact reason
why it is such a perfect tool. The fear factor is exactly what causes it to be effective. A
member of the team who is terrified of role play is more likely to remember what you
“made” them do rather than what you told them, making it a perfect training tool.
 Encourage the team to feed best practice with one another this
makes them competitive and enthusiastic.
Competition between the team is perfect because it gives them that little bit of extra
encouragement to go the extra mile. When one person is doing fantastic the rest of the
team strive to do better as they want to be the best and then this in turn creates results.
 Management team to have a positive attitude
One way to achieve results is through positivity, if the management team are positive no matter
what happens then the team in turn will also be positive. A positive team will lead to a
positive atmosphere not just for working environment but for the customers.
 Encourage the team to lead by example
The team should always be leading by example to one another. People are always looking to
achieve something, whether it is big or small and a good role model always sets this
example.
 To look good makes you feel good, and when you feel good you
produce good results
The best work has been created when a person has been at the top of their game. If you dress
well and look good this will make you feel good about yourself. You will be more positive
towards others. The customers will notice this and be more than happy to make a purchase
and possibly return.
If you can walk the walk,
Talk the talk,
And look the part –
Then you are almost there!
If you can show what you are doing, say what you are doing and look good
doing it, then the results should speak for themselves. If any of the above
three sentences are missing then the results probably wont be achieved.
If everything we have discussed today is
completed and achieved without having fun
along the way then the team are going to end
up stressed, tired and worn out which will not
generate results.
Keeping it entertaining and interesting will in
turn keep the team encouraged and
interested.
