LaTeX is a document preparation system capable of producing professional quality typesetting output. It is especially suited for documents with complex structures and mathematical material, and is the preferred format of many academic publishers. But modern LaTeX packages allow for the creation of material beyond academic papers and theses, and for various disciplines: presentation slides, leaflets, oversized posters, graph plots, fillable PDF forms, electronic circuit diagrams, chemical structures and reactions, DNA sequences, linguistic syntax trees, even a Gantt chart or two for the project managers!
