2. THE QUESTIONNAIRE
• I have uploaded a series of questions to
www.polleverywhere.com
• This website allowed classmates to text their
answers to the website and it would give a visual
display of the poll results
• In the following slides I have analyzed the answers
to the questionnaire, and have made some
decisions about my magazine due to the results.
3. The graph shows that the Dance and R&B genre of music were the most
popular of my classmates. I have chosen to do an EDM magazine as I
believe it covers a larger audience as opposed to R&B because the genre
branches to several subgenres including House, Dubstep and Garage. I
will make the magazine so that it engages fans of all the different
subgenres of EDM. I also believe there are already many successful and
prestigous R&B magazines such as ‘Vibe’ and ‘Flavourmag’, therefore my
magazine will have less competition if I chose to produce an EDM
4. The most popular results to this poll for why my classmates read music
magazines was for gossip and new artists/music, therefore I will make sure my
main headlines are to do with celebrity musician gossip and a new artist. I’ll
also make sure I will include reviews and tour dates in my magazine due to
the results of the poll.
5. Due to the fact that most of my classmates would pay £2.00 to £2.99 for
a music magazine, I will make my magazine £2.99 as I believe this is a
very reasonable price for my magazine and this means it will be a
medium-end magazine.
6. The most popular masthead was ‘Sonic’, however I am still undecided
whether to call it ‘Synth’ because this is more reflective of the EDM genre, as
most dance music is produced by Synths as opposed to real, acoustic
instruments. Although Sonic was more popular I believe that Synth may be
more relatable to fans of EDM and amateur producers of the genre.
7. Before the questionnaire I had my mind set on having neon green and
white as the magazine’s colour scheme however my questionnaire
results have changed this. Although neon green and white reflects the
strobe lights in the clubbing scene, the colour indigo connotes spirituality
which could suggest to the reader that EDM is more than just clubbing, it
could possibly be transcendental and mystical for the listener, enticing
them to the magazine.
