Nouns are the basic building blocks of sentences. A noun names a person, place, thing, quality or idea and usually takes the role of subject or object in a sentence. Nouns come in singular or plural forms and there are different types of nouns including proper, concrete, countable and collective nouns. Words can be like mosaics, with individual pieces coming together to form a larger picture or illustration.
