Agriculture links NCDs and CDs in many ways; I tried to illustrate just a few. On element of institutional reform should therefore entail efforts towards a better understanding of these links. In understand that the creation of the LEVERHULME CENTRE FOR INTEGRATIVE RESEARCH on HEALTH AND AGRIUCLTURE (LCIRAH) is a first step into the right direction. Promote research towards inter-linked, inter-disciplinary analysis. Complex problems can seldom be fixed with simple prescriptions. Awareness building of interlinkages Technical organizations such as FAO, WHO, OIE to work more closely together amongst themselves (as they try to do in the One Health approach) but also with other organizations that are not undertaking technical work. UNICEF, for instance, could help in terms of awareness building and advocacy, UNEP in showing up the agro-ecological problems and linkages of agriculture, wildlife and the environment, the IFIs need to shift away from single, insolated programmes towards integrated, more holistic approaches; we (FAO) have received very clear and positive signs from the World Bank that they are interested in financing eco-regional approaches to OH. (UNSIC), UK/US: policy at the highest possible level of decision making (prime minister, president’s office); as the future of UNSIC appears to be unclear, the need for an effective, executive institutional location for zoonotic problems in general and pandemic threats in particular becomes more acute. In order for the IFIs to be able to move towards integrated health approaches, the technical ground work has to be delivered first. This means inter alia research towards eco-regional disease dynamics, regional (research) capacity building and the creation of innovative eco-regional approach to addressing the disease burden. Then bundle efforts in a global health funds for OH under the supervision of the G8/G20 NGOs are active but there is no international institutional anchor
