2. What are Genetically
Modified Foods?
Removal of genes from
one organism
and transferal to another
Laboratory crops altered
to enhance desired traits
Genetic engineering
rapidly and accurately
creates plant with exact
trait
Bacterial Carriers
Gene Splicing
Viral Carriers
5. To label or not to label?
Argument to label: Not to label:
People have a right to Too costly
know-avoidance of
animal DNA Alarming
Allergies not an
Prevents Allergic issue
Reactions
6. Not to label!
Adding labels will increase cost of item-separate
machinery
Labeling will alarm people or damage public trust if not
simple enough to understand, and if public not well
enough educated- foods will not be bought
The argument for labeling is allergies. GM foods aren't
labeled now, when they are, why would allergies be more
of an issue than currently?
